Ballet Through Borders

Supporting young dancers in South Africa.

Ballet Through Borders is a nonprofit organization dedicated to using classical ballet as a bridge between cultures. Through international exchange, education, and performance, we create opportunities for young dancers to connect, grow, and share their artistry across borders.

Founded by Amandia Scotti in 2023, Ballet Through Borders was created following the loss of her grandparents in Bethal, South Africa, who were deeply respected as pillars of their community. Motivated to carry forward their spirit of generosity and impact, Amandia created the organization to empower young dancers in South Africa through the art of ballet.

2023

In its first year, Ballet Through Borders launched its inaugural program with an enchanting princess theme, gaining local news coverage and strong community support that marked the beginning of a growing movement.

2024

In its second year, Ballet Through Borders saw continued growth as founder Amandia Scotti was nominated for the Service Above Self Educational Excellence Award, while record donations of over $4,000 helped expand opportunities for young dancers.

2025

In 2025, founder Amandia Scotti received the Service Above Self Educational Excellence Award and a $3,000 Lake Oswego Rotary Club scholarship in recognition of her service. That year, Ballet Through Borders collaborated with local artist Haeyung Chun, featuring her ballet-inspired artwork on cards and notebooks.

“Thank you. The impact of the ballet week has been profound and something that will remain with her for the rest of her life.”

— Child’s Social Worker, Bethal, South Africa
